Adult Frenectomy after Infant Frenectomy

Tongue ties tend to run in families. It is not at all unusual for a parent to want to have a lingual frenectomy after seeing the amazing results a tongue-tie release had for an infant or child. And they usually experience amazing and interesting results too. Better posture, no more back-of-the-neck tension headaches, no more heartburn/reflux, and no more snoring. They sleep better and wake up feeling more rested. Adult patients almost always tell me immediately after the release that they feel they can breath better. The tongue is amazingly strong and connected to the head and neck in so many ways. The effects of a restricted tongue are different for each person, but the results of releasing the restriction almost always helps reduce or even eliminate a previous symptom.

I love this video for another reason too. It shows how extremely precise using a CO2 laser is for doing any type of soft tissue cutting. You can practically "hear" what is going on in Dr. Baxter's mind as he evaluates the results of every tiny cut, thinking about which thread to release next. You can see the results -- how the diamond shape forms the tongue lifts up -- in real time as he goes along. You can see how little bleeding there is. You can see how much more the patient can move his tongue immediately after the release. You can see that even though Dr. Baxter is taking his time, the entire video is only 2 minutes. Safe, precise, no risk of infection, faster healing, no general anesthesia, quick in-office procedure -- in my opinion, this is the best way to go.

All the best,

L Haller
